Billions of Android app downloads

With the number of downloaded apps from the Google Play Store counting in billions and the apps with the most revenue generating millions of US dollars, it is logical to rank the apps and see which ones performed the best throughout 2018.

Best performing app

The best performing Android app in 2018 was neither a social media nor a messaging app. Instead, it is a language app called “Drops: learn 31 new languages.” However, the social media platform Reddit is ranked the fan favorite app.

Fan favorite app

Even though Candy Crush Saga game is the leading Android app with the most revenue of about $58.79 million, it was not ranked the fan favorite game app. Instead, PUBG game app was ranked number one in this category.

Most entertaining app

In the same manner, YouTube, which was the fifth most downloaded app from the Google Play in 2018, does not rank among the most entertaining apps. VIMAGE, Neverthink, No Draw, Tik Tok, and Scout FM are the five apps that made the ranking list in the category.

Best daily helper app

Google also ranked five apps in the best daily helper category ― Tasty, Canva, Otter Voice Notes, Notion – Notes, Tasks, and Wikis. These apps are known for keeping users productive and making everyday tasks more efficient and enjoyable.

Best self-improvement app

Irrespective of your goal, whether to get fit, focused, or learn something new, these apps ranked as the best self-improvement apps of 2018 may help: Mimo, 10% Happier, Drops, Keep Trainer, and Masterclass.

Best hidden gem app

The last category of the best app in 2018 is the best-hidden gem. This is a category for new apps that are quietly building a fanbase. Luci, Slowly, Just a Line, Learn Spanish With Lirica, and Unfold are the category’s top-ranked apps.
