I bought this Boogie Board as sort of an inexpensive gift to myself this past Christmas. I think I paid like $25. I actually like it quite a bit. I wouldn't mind having the larger version in the house for my sons and myself. I'm a big fan of handwritten notes. I have had several of the Samsung Galaxy Note series phones. I think there's something therapeutic about handwriting still. Even though it seems to be almost a lost art.
Suggested improvements
One complaint I have is that the plastic stylus attaches to the right side and I'm left-handed. I don't think it would be very difficult to allow it to attach to the left side just as easily as to the right side. Well, there is a hole in the bottom left but really not the same as the top left.
I would also like to erase only certain portions of written text but it only allows you to erase all of the text at once.
Another suggestion I have is to reduce the size of the bezels. That would make it much more pocketable.
The last suggestion is adding maybe a backlight to make it viewable in low lighting.
How I use it
Now, what do I use it for? Well, it's hard to say that I couldn't use my phone for the same thing except I don't have another Samsung Note phone right now. Scratch that, I actually do have a Note 2 but can't get much use out of it. The nice thing about the boogie board is the battery life is almost undefinable. At near $25, it's basically a throwaway device. It's great for little reminders and notes. There's something really nice about an always on display for little notes and todos.
Also, there is an Android app that will save your scribbling. It' not a very impressive app but gets the job done if you want to save your scribbles.
