Swipe keyboard in Windows 10 for Surface Pro 3!
I'm not sure when it happened, but my Surface Pro 3 now has a built-in on-screen keyboard with swipe functionality. One of the updates, maybe the Windows 10 Creators update, added more keyboard support. There is also a small keyboard and a microphone icon on your keyboards so that you can voice dictate which I'm doing right now for this post.
Too late?
The swipe functionality and other new on-screen keyboard enhancements seem very nice but it seems a little too late. I'm actually considering selling my Surface Pro 3 and maybe something else in order to get a MacBook Air. Not because I like Apple's closed ecosystem but because it would be better for the type of work I'm doing. I'm still trying to get that first Android app out there. And I have been doing 99% of my work on an iMac which has worked very well considering the course I'm taking. The instructor is using a Mac. I will do another post later on things I like and dislike on the Surface Pro 3 and Windows in general vs working on my iMac.
Still buggy
I have to admit, this voice dictation on the surface pro 3 is working really well. Well, until that last sentence. The dictation suddenly went crazy. I'm back on my iMac to finish this. The dictation just started spitting out lots of other stuff/words. Oh well, guess they haven't quite perfected it yet. Just makes for a bad experience when you just want things to work.
Update February 22nd, 2018
So the slide or swipe feature doesn't work everywhere on the surface pro 3. As an example, it doesn't work in the Chrome address bar or in other places in Chrome. Even worse, the small pop up keyboard sometimes wouldn't pop up at all when I was using Firefox. I believe it has something to do with going back and forth between another application like notepad.
