That’s the whole tweet. Wait. I’m not tweeting.
Well, I recently got an iPhone SE 2020 as my daily driver after using Android phones for what seems like centuries. I really like it. But Google Keep performs badly on it. Part of the problem is what happens when I don’t have a good data signal, which is quite a bit of the time at work. It hesitates on startup big time. Sometimes, it simply refuses to start. This is my go to app and I’ve almost completely stopped using it at this point.
The problem is, what to use in its place. iOS notes is great but I simply can’t stand that it’s not cross platform with windows and android. And exporting should be a real issue if I ever need to leave it. I’m looking at Notion. It’s not bad at all but honestly can be complicated compared to something as simple as iOS notes or even Google Keep. I’ll let you know how it goes.
One big plus for Google Keep is that you can actually export all notes including all the images or other attachments you might have added to your notes. Google allows you to download all notes (or other google data) and puts it into a nice html with images format. I can’t imagine any other service doing this. Most export features I’ve seen with other services only export the text parts of your notes. UPDATE: I haven't tested it but it looks like Notion does allow you to export similarly to Google Keep. It exports in HTML format and you can include any images.
Update: 5/14/21 I’m still using Google Keep on my iPhone. I switched to a iPhone 11 because I wanted a slightly larger screen (older eyes) and better camera. I really liked the iPhone SE though. Anyway, Google Keep still isn’t great on iOS, but I’m living with it. Notion turned out to be a little more complicated than I wanted. I’m using iOS notes a bit also but I’m not looking forward to the day where I want to export notes from it.
