Remotely shutdown hibernate or reboot pc from your android phone

Hibernate your computer from your Android phone

I thought I would share info on this little app that I use on a regular basis. I usually have several computers running in the house at the same time. When I'm going to bed, I like to hibernate my computers (Windows). The Android app that I use to remotely shutdown my computer is called Shutdown Start Remote by Ralf Wondratschek (doesn't appear to be available anymore on the PlayStore but you might be able to find an old version on a apk download site). It requires a service to be installed on your computer. It supports both Mac and PC.  Note: The instructions and the PC app are no longer available and the original website.

Hibernate a PC without the monitor being turned on

One really nice advantage to using this app is for a computer that I am using as a media center PC. Often I don't want to turn on the TV or monitor that this PC is connected to just to shut it down. This utility or app allows me to do that.

Save state of currently running applications

Hibernating my computers (Windows) turns them completely off and saves the state I was at before turning them off. That way when I restart them the next morning, they come back up right where I left off.

Save electricity, lengthen the life of your PC, eliminate noise in a room

I also like my computers to be completely off so that they are saving electricity, lengthening their life, and making no noise especially when a computer is in my bedroom. Sony Turntable Review Sony NW-A45 Walkman with Hi-Res Audio review
